About Camp David

Discover your Heart; Restore your Masculinity

We believe that men have been created by God to fulfil a specific role. However, much that is in the world today stands in opposition to Godly masculinity. This intentional destruction of men is also seeking the destruction of the family.

The consequences of the destruction of masculinity is devastating the lives of men, families, the Church, and ultimately society. For this reason, Camp David seeks first: To discover your heart and mind within a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

And second, to restore biblical masculinity through coming to know the ultimate man, Jesus Christ our Saviour, and through Him see redemption for men, their families, the Church of Christ, all to the benefit of society.

The current divorce rate in South Africa is around 50%. About 7 out of 10 children in South Africa live without fathers. Fatherlessness is responsible for the vast majority of all societal problems in all cultures. The demands for counseling for boys and young men is overwhelming. Given that 7 out of 10 boys and young men are without a Father figure, they need someone to model Biblical masculinity in their lives; to set an example for them to follow. Failure to mentor, disciple, counsel and example the Christian Faith leaves the current and the next generation in a crisis.

Why Camp David?
From the book of Malachi Camp David understands that God the Father desires reconciliation between fathers and their sons. “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes. And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their sons and the hearts of sons to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.”

Surrendering to Jesus Christ and His Lordship is the first step.  Initiating a man’s identity in Christ is done either within one of Camp David’s discipleship groups or on our phase one boot camp, where we deal with the following issues:  Repentance, Confession, Forgiveness, Armour of God, Baptism, Brotherhood, Father Heart of God and Sexual Purity. Discipline is essential since this is the starting point in the process of becoming the man you were created to be.
Camp David believes in leadership, first that of Jesus Christ and second that of other men who follow Christ as leaders.  Demonstrating how to be a disciple of Jesus Christ is critical. Challenging men in getting to know God in a deeper relationship helps men grow in being Godly men. Camp David also provides courses that include the following:  Confession, Forgiveness, Identity, Calling, Being sent, and the Holy Spirit. This phase strengthens and equips men as they see masculinity exampled by other men.
Camp David believes that, just like Paul, men will follow other men in leadership as they follow Christ.  But there comes a time where a man is ready to follow Christ on his own and start leading others in their journey of becoming the men they were created to be. In Activating we make sure responsibility is given to and taken by the upcoming men.  Their leader/mentor will then start walking behind them, coaching them as they grow in their new role.  The more they grow and find stability, the more they are released.
Camp David believes that every man has his own calling to fulfil.  At this stage we trust that God has opened that way for each man to walk in and that they should be released to go and follow their own path with the Holy Spirit, whether in Camp David or any other place they are called to go.
