Discover your Heart; Restore your Masculinity
We believe that men have been created by God to fulfil a specific role. However, much that is in the world today stands in opposition to Godly masculinity. This intentional destruction of men is also seeking the destruction of the family.
The consequences of the destruction of masculinity is devastating the lives of men, families, the Church, and ultimately society. For this reason, Camp David seeks first: To discover your heart and mind within a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
And second, to restore biblical masculinity through coming to know the ultimate man, Jesus Christ our Saviour, and through Him see redemption for men, their families, the Church of Christ, all to the benefit of society.
The current divorce rate in South Africa is around 50%. About 7 out of 10 children in South Africa live without fathers. Fatherlessness is responsible for the vast majority of all societal problems in all cultures. The demands for counseling for boys and young men is overwhelming. Given that 7 out of 10 boys and young men are without a Father figure, they need someone to model Biblical masculinity in their lives; to set an example for them to follow. Failure to mentor, disciple, counsel and example the Christian Faith leaves the current and the next generation in a crisis.
Why Camp David?
From the book of Malachi Camp David understands that God the Father desires reconciliation between fathers and their sons. “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes. And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their sons and the hearts of sons to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.”
The brokenness between fathers and sons drives the brokenness in society. Jesus said in John 13:15 “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.” In the same way that Jesus set an example for his Disciples, and called them to follow his example, so too does Camp David seek to follow the example of Jesus seeking to turn the hearts of fathers to their sons. Through the restoration of Biblical love between fathers and sons Christ shall be both known and glorified (John 13:34-35).
Camp David also believes that community is rooted in the soul of every man, but without a relationship between Fathers and Sons there will not be a community. Camp David rejects ‘Lone Ranger’ theology which feeds the lack of accountability and absence of intentionality in the lives of many Christian men. Men were created to live in a community of brothers with families, strengthening and encouraging one another on a consistent basis (Heb. 10:19-25), and bearing one another's burdens (Gal. 6:2).
All communities are built on the foundation of family. A family without a husband and/or father is less likely to succeed in life, and is often dysfunctional. For that very reason Camp David is all about raising Godly men to stand in their roles within their Churches, communities, marriages, and families, and this even for those that do not have a father figure in their lives.
